So, I was tagged by my friend's husband, Matt.

RANDOM FACTS ABOUT DEVION:
1. I got my nickname (Devion) from Angie who was my chemistry teacher...then my Science Seminar teacher...then my supervisor when I worked at MHS...and through all that and still, my friend. "You know, like Evian?!?" Now, it is how I long in to just about everything. Second daughter's name?!? I think not...
2. I have 30+ first cousins on just my dad's side. I could list them all, but that would just be silly.
3. I have a secret (only not-so-secret anymore) desire to be either a chef or a beautician, but not at the same time. *gag*
4. To reference the above *gag* I have a horrible gag reflex and sitting here just thinking about hair in food, I am seriously gagging and looking for something nearby in which to puke...just in case.
5. I share an amazing closeness to my family (parents and siblings, I mean...I'm super close with the extended fam, too, but for now I'm just talking about the immediate family). We all talk OFTEN. We also fight like cats and dogs...all of us. It's part of what makes us crazies crazy!
6. I have an overwhelming desire to have twins coupled with an overwhelming fear that that might just happen. After all, my dad was an identical twin and there are tons of twins throughout our family. Cami who posts on here (or at least USED TO...where are you Camille?!?) is my dad's twin brother's daughter. That makes us basically half-sisters.
7. Whenever I stop to think about it, I cannot believe that I'm old enough to be married...much less have a baby. It just seems so strange to me. I feel like I should still be living at home with my parents.
8. I absolutely love to cook and bake. I wish I had more time to do so. I love making a dinner and then presenting it just right on the plate to where it is a masterpiece. I really wish that I could be on Hell's Kitchen. However, I could never leave Cassie and Mark and I would probably cry all the time with Chef Ramsey yelling and cussing. However, if I could, I SO would.
Well, that ends the "8 things you never knew you never knew (or wanted to know) about Devon." Hope you enjoyed.
I tag:
1. Michelle (though I highly doubt it)
2. Bek
3. Tracy (yeah, highly doubt that will happen either)
4. AT
5. Ang (but I don't think you'll be giving up extra Sophie time for this) :)
6. Denise
7. Cami (though you don't use a blog...just post it as a comment on here or something!)
8. Laura (you can do it on myspace or facebook, right?!?) :)
9. Holly (you can do it as a comment).
I KNOW I put 9, but I broke the rules...so sue me. I'm also not going to leave it as comments on your blogs because you all should have a subscription to me!!! :)
Pretty much, I'm holding out for Bek and AT.

So you're holding out for Bek & AT, huh? Well here I am coming thru for ya!!! What do you think about that??? ;) And since I don't have anyone to tag...I'll just post my 8 random thoughts now:
1.) I have naturally curly hair, but I have straightened it since my sophomore year in high school. That was until recently...I am learning to embrace my curls, especially since I am learning they are SO much easier to do than straighten my hair.
2.) I absolutely LOVE pedicures, but I don't like feet. I know, odd, but I love to have my legs & feet massaged, scrubbed, & painted pretty, but I can not STAND to touch others feet nor do I like it when people touch me with their feet. Yek!
3.) I have been married for 5 1/2 years and I have been the wife of a student for the entire time! Look out though...only 1 more year! Hooray!
4.) Several people might know this, but it is such a part of my life, it is worth adding. I am allergic to dairy products...which is completely different then being lactose intolerant. I can not have any milk or related products in my diet. I've been this way since birth, but they didn't find it until I was 5. When I tell people this, its about now that I get the...Oh man that is HORRIBLE, I would DIE without...(insert milk product here). But I'm here to tell you, its not HORRIBLE. Now it does make for interesting cooking and eating out is interesting some times, but you learn to live with it. And I am truely thankful that it isn't something worse. There are MUCH worse things in this world to have than a milk allergy.
5.) My love language is Quality Time. Meaning I love to spend quality time with my husband, family & friends. I feel the most loved when I am able to have quality time with those I love. If you are married and you've never read the book: The Five Love Languages by Gary Smalley...go rent a copy TODAY. It is the best book I have ever read and wish only that I had read it earlier in my marriage. I also learned that my husband's love language is Acts of Service. Knowing these 2 things made our already good marriage even better. We know how to love each other in the language which means the most to them and will make them feel the most loved. (ok, enough with the book review)
6.) I LOVE to dance. In fact, knowing this, my sweet husband got us ballroom dancing lessons for our 5th anniversary (also knowing that my love language is quality time...what a great hubby). One of the BEST gifts I've ever gotten. It was so much fun, I loved every minute of it. I watch Dancing with the Stars faithfully and would love to continue to dance thru out my life in some way or the other.
7.) I don't like cats!!! Sorry all you cat lovers, its nothing against you or the animal...I am just totally not a cat lover. I think it might be partly because I am allergic to them. Either way, they are not for me.
8.) For my final one, I thought I'd list a few other things that I LOVE, but that you might not know...I love kids! I am not a mom yet, but I love spending time with kids of all ages and always have. I like to knit, although I never have enough time to do it. And finally, I LOVE numbers...oh yeah, maybe that's why I'm an accountant!
There you have it...8 things you may or may not have know about me!
OK! Since I have been off work for two days and am bored out of my mind, why not shock you by giving you 8 things you might not know about me.
1. I am a tom boy at heart, I love to play in the outdoors. I would rather be outside than couped up indoors; therefore, I love going on picnics and such.
2. I don't pray out loud in front of anyone (not even Ben), Partially because it is my personal communications with God and partially because of fear of embarassment.
3. I would much rather wonder around my house in a t-shirt and pair of undies than be dressed. (This is why it is good to call before dropping by)
4. I don't really care for chinese food.
5. I like driving our truck more than our car. That is the country girl coming out.
6. I hate the color pink.
7. I like to watch it lighting when it is storming.
8. My first real vacation outside of Missouri was our honeymoon 5 years ago.
9. I wouldn't be doing this if you hadn't said it was highly unlikely.
So what do you think about that Devon.
YAY!!! Way to prove me wrong you two!!! I'm not sure that I learned a single thing from EITHER of you, but I'm sure others did. No wait, I DIDN'T know that Holly liked pedicures. ICK! Other than that, I knew it all! :) OK...the rest of you girls have some catching up to do...if you have a blog, I'm gonna be checkin' it!!!
I didn't know you wanted to be a chef, Devon. You know I do to, right? I have been going back and forth on either cooking school or finishing nursing school when all my kids have started school full time. I decided recently (That is spelled wrong, huh?) that it is definatly cooking school. I can do the LPN thing on the weekends cause it makes more money than I think I will make as a chef but I would LOVE to cook for a living. LOVE IT! My cousin, Lindsay, has also been interested in cooking school for several years now. If she sticks with the plan, we want to open a little cafe/bakery/trendy business people come for breakfast and lunch and coffee place. Yeah!
Here's Michelle to prove to you I can exceed your expectations as well. My 8, in no particular order:
1) I am ready to have another baby. I know it's crazy so soon since Emberley is only three months old, BUT it will not happen quite yet because my husband isn't ready. I have though always wanted my kids to be close in age, and am hoping for less than two years apart for sure.
2) I make my bed every single day. It makes me feel so much better to have that done and to climb into a bed that has straightened sheets at night.
3) I am addicted to Craigslist and check it more than a dozen times a day when I'm not working. We've bought a bedroom set, a dinette set, an entertainment center, a dresser, and baby furniture off of there in just the past five months. I'm currently looking for a good deal on some living room furniture. I love saving a penny and can't afford to buy these types of items new, so it's my best option currently and I'm pleased with everything we've bought so far!
4) I hate it when family calls the day that they want to visit and tell you that they'll be there around noon. This happened today, and MANY, MANY times in the past few months! Often we already had plans or were even out of town and people were already heading into KC to come see us. Pet peeve anyone? I need some preparation time, because I'm so tired of visitors coming by. It's sad, I know. I don't mean to be ungrateful that people want to visit, but I personally would like 24-48 hours notice to prepare.
5) I love being back at work and having a job that allows me to work when I want and only a few days a week. I like the variety of not having a set schedule too, it mixes things up for me a bit. On the same note I love that Devon is watching Emberley and able to handle my changes in schedule from week to week. It makes me a happy mom!
6) I am extremely frugal and am always looking for the best deals on anything I must purchase. I despise paying full price for anything and believe I should not have to. A good deal makes me smile and I pray that I will always be a good steward of our money no matter how much or little God blesses us.
7) I want everything to be organized. No such luck! I dream of someday having everything in order and a house that is nice and chaos free. For some reason I can't even get past the little things to make this happen. I love to purge and I love lists!
8) I don't hate to cook... but I don't know how to cook. I really want to start having nice family dinners every night rather than scrambling for something to eat at 8 o'clock when it's too late. I'm planning to start attending meal prep classes at places like "Let's Dish" and "Super Suppers" every month so that I can have a well stocked freezer and maybe pick up some ideas for my own kitchen as well.
There you go. Devon you already probably know most of this, but I couldn't think of anything creative and new to tell you about me. I hope it was enjoyable though!
SEE HOW WELL THAT REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY WORKS!!! Look how many responses I got!!!
Laura, I DID know that you wanted to be a chef. Oh, and you spelled recently right. :) That would be so fun to have a place where you get to make up the menu and such. I would love it! If you and Lindsey ever DO get into the biz, maybe I can lend you a fun recipe or two! :)
Anyone else wanna post theirs?!? That's 4/8 that I've seen so far (Bek posted on her blog). I've still got some to check, though! :)
Alright, I'll see is I can come up with 8 things...
1) I've lost almost 50 lbs over the summer so far. I've still got a long way to go but I'm feeling really happy about that. Most of that was leftover pregnancy weight so on to the older weight.
2) I've been married 9 years (to Devons brother) and at 10 we get to open the time capsule thing we were given as a wedding gift. I remember when I was filling it up I thought the stuff was fun and exciting so that will be cool.
3) Our third child is 10 months old now and my husband wants another. I think we should be done. I dont think we can afford another being that we plan to put them in private school in a few years. We also make a trip to Kansas every year and those plane tickets are EXPENSIVE!
4) I have a growing collection of school lunch ideas and recipes for my two school kids. Caitlin loves to get hot lunch but Ethan will have to bring lunch every day. I started buying lunch things like trail mix and smoked almonds two weeks before school starts for Cake; three for Eth.
5) I have Vitiligo... you know, what Michael Jackson has. It is an autoimmune thing in which my pigment cells kill themselves off so I have white spots. My pigment has been going away since I was little so now I only have color on my arms. I just look really pale. My hair is starting to turn white in a few patches now too. It's kinda cool though cause my hair is dark brown with a couple white streaks in back. It looks kinda neet.
6) My ankle is burning right now, like I spilled acid on it or something. :( Weird.
7)Devon, you can't tell anybody this but did I tell you my parents very well may be moving to Oklahoma in about five years and are trying to talk us into moving too. I dont think we are going to but it is not totally ruled out. Niether Dustin or I want to move back there but there are some benefits to it. We would be two hours from your family and is it four from you? My sister, brother, parents and we would all live in the same town. Houses are cheaper. But we like it here and by that time the kids would be established here with their friends and school. I dont know. Don't tell your family.
8) I'm at work and someones family just showed up so I've got to go. That's random. :)
by.
Laura--I did know this, but I think Mom said something to me about your parents possibly moving in a few years... hmmmm....
I didn't know that you would be done with only 3 kiddos, though...I DID learn something! :)
Well, I learned lots of good stuff... one of which is always to call Tracy before going over to her house!
And Holly, I'm nicely jealous that you received your dance lessons. Although Mr. Right promised lessons two Christmases ago, I've yet to see them happen. Sigh. One day...
